Ashwagandha

About the formula

Root only. 5% withanolides. Declared per serving. No assumptions.

Ashwagandha KSM-66® is a full-spectrum root extract of Withania somnifera, standardised to 5% withanolides, measured by laboratory assay (HPLC). We use the root only — no leaf, no stem — extracted without chemical solvents by Ixoreal Biomed in India.

Two capsules deliver 1,000 mg of KSM-66®, so one bottle is exactly 30 days. The full composition is declared below, per capsule and per daily serving.

Questions before you start

What exactly is KSM-66®?
KSM-66® is a patented full-spectrum extract of Withania somnifera root, produced by Ixoreal Biomed in India. Full-spectrum means the natural ratio of root constituents is kept rather than isolating one fraction. It is standardised to 5% withanolides, measured by laboratory assay (HPLC), and extracted without chemical solvents, so the amount you take is the amount declared on the label.
Why is it important that it doesn’t contain leaves?
The root and the leaf of Withania somnifera do not have the same composition. Withaferin A concentrates in the leaf, and leaf-bearing extracts therefore have a different profile from root extracts. KSM-66® processes the root only, so what you take matches exactly what is declared on the label: 1,000 mg of root extract, of which 50 mg withanolides.
Are there any contraindications?
Yes. This product is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for children and adolescents. French authorities (ANSES, 2024) also advise against it for people with thyroid, liver or heart conditions, or with hyperandrogenism. If you take any medication — in particular thyroid medication, sedatives or immunosuppressants — speak to your doctor or pharmacist first. Stop taking it and seek medical advice if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or persistent abdominal pain.
Why don't you say what it's for?
Because EU law does not allow it. Health claims for plant ingredients have been frozen since 2010 pending evaluation by EFSA, so no brand can lawfully tell you what ashwagandha does. What we can do is tell you exactly what is in the capsule, where it comes from and how it is verified — and leave the interpretation to you and your pharmacist or doctor.
What does HPLC mean?
HPLC stands for high-performance liquid chromatography. It is a standard laboratory method for measuring exactly how much of a given compound is in a sample: the material is dissolved and pushed through a column that separates its components, and a detector measures each one as it comes out. When a page here says an extract is standardised to a certain percentage (HPLC), that is the method behind the number — the concentration is measured in a lab, not estimated from the plant.
